I think it's kinda cool looking. Weird for sure, but kinda cool. Oh, you said to talk you OUT of it. Sorry.

Well, since you want to be talked out of it:

I really don't like the bizarre finish, for which I'm sure you'll pay a serious premium.

may look funky later on in its life as those colors tend to age differently from one another... the purple and the blue will fade before the rest of the colors...

It's tacky and fruity aesthetically. You should get one of the Grissom models everybody raves about or something...

i hate to make a comment here. but i will. even thought al dimeola is a friend of mine. and my feelings about the finish is hate it/love it. (not love it/hate it)

for that kind of money i would get a custom made guitar from schroeder or briggs or baker etc etc

I dig it, but I wouldn't play it in a biker bar.

Personally i don't like the finish. But you apparently do. However, I would bet that after a while you will tire of it and wish it was a solid color or traditional burst, etc.

It's obviously an unusual color, but there's nothing wrong with that. My only concern would be that I may eventually grow tired of such an unusual color scheme. Or, if you ever wanted (or had to) to sell it, the prospective buyer pool may be very limited.

With that said, if YOU like it and want it, go for it!

    How about this:

That's the ugliest damn finish I've ever seen on a guitar, and any show you'll play with it, you'll have a quarter of the audience thinking that you're color blind, a quarter thinking you have terrible taste, a quarter thinking that you're gay, and the remaining quarter will be a mix of folks that just don't care, think you're confused, or actually can stomach it.

Playing a guitar that ugly looking will have folks paying more attention to your bad taste than your music (which is something I'm not interested in).

AND, it's not even in the correct color order for a TRUE prism finish (ROYGBIV) -- it's the last half of one prism and the first half of another.

Try to imagine yourself playing it, wearing a comfortable sweat shirt and some old jeans.

    Is it working?

Will you have to wear a white suit get-up to use it at a show?

These are some sobering times, economically. This color scheme from another place and time, IMO.

But on the other hand, I guess you'll be the only one, that's true.

Is he being sarcastic about that guitar?
At first I thought it was a joke, now not so sure.
I really hope it is. Like someone else said, its probably one of the ugliest guitars I have ever seen. Note I said 'guitar' and not just 'finish', cause its a PRS.

Don't let others talk you out of a Prism, I just got mine last week and between the neck shape and the new 57/08 pickups this is the guitar I've always dreamed of. The finish is dramatic under stage lights and gives the guitar a unique quality that I love. I will never part with mine!

I am sure the guitar play great, but half the pleasure of having a guitar is how it looks. Buy a PRS with a beautiful solid color flame top.
