I get how beloved it is around here, but I just prefer the tightness distortion offers over the raggedy fuzz tones in almost every context.

Even notable fuzz users, say Hendrix—I prefer his cleaner and Marshall amp tones over his fuzz face ones. Muffs? Just gross.

I'm basically with you. Fuzz is like Chorus: A light smattering here and there is a cool effect but anything more is too much.

I got kicked off of “I Love Fuzz” after about 6 hours...

So I guess they hated me. ;)

Let me be Captain Obvious for a second.

Some people like certain stuff while other people like different stuff.

    Ok, Captain Obvious gone.

Probably fuzz is not your territory to play on. For example I love heavily distorted and chorused guitar which some people hate. My buddy hates overdrive/distortion/fuzz completely, he just plays cleans all the time. Other buddy simply can't stand clean tones, he just goes heavy AF. That's why music is cool, because we listen to wide range of tones, genres etc.

A lot of my favorite fuzz recordings turned out to be a Tweed Deluxe :)

I don’t think you understand fuzz.

I used to think I hated fuzz until I heard someone who understands fuzz use a fuzz through my setup. Now I want a fuzz.

I'm with you OP. I enjoy listening to fuzz, but overall I hate playing it.

I own the Barber Exacta and that gives me the perfect blend. It sounds fuzzy but feels like a distortion. Hard to explain but the Exacta is the only fuzz I can play for more than a minute. Check it out.

I used to hate it before I learned how to use it. Not implying that you need education, but I certainly did.

I used to feel the same way.

Comparing fuzz to distortion is like comparing cars to dragons.

    Sure they are both transportation.

I've bought almost all varieties of fuzz pedals over the years and quickly sold them. (yeah...even a few Analogmans) I have no interest in muffs or splattery fuzzes or noise boxes...but I do like the early Hendricks fuzz sound. On a whim I got a used Dunlop fuzz face mini (FFM2) and there it is!...that sound. It just does that rolled off volume knob thing perfectly with a strat. Go figure...the cheapie one works for me.

(FWIW - I've still kept a London Fuzz as it's also very nice)

    Fuzz is like cigarettes...

You just gotta keep trying different brands.
Till you find the one that burns just right for You:D

I never played with fuzz before this year. I have two now. I like them. Playing with a fuzz is different than I had expected. I don't need more.
