    Thoughts?

The Danelectro Fish & Chips is a great inexpensive way to find out if you really need an EQ. 30 bucks or so. The MXR 10 band is excellent too. I just picked up a Source Audio Programmable EQ to try out and it seems really nice for far (4 presets).

    MXR 10 band is excellent.

The Source Audio is great as it allows you to create presets, but it was more than I needed. Great design and sound though.

    I've had a Maxon GE-601 for 4 or 5 years & I'm very happy with it.
6 bands, volume control & a tiny foot print.

Not graphic but semi parametric. Fromel Shape EQ is the benchmark. I also like the looks of the programmable EQ with presets by Siurce Audio. Many here love the feature-laden Empress as well.

Hmm.. the maxon slipped under my radar.. so far the GE7 actually has the lead because of the level control and the 9V power supply. Thanks for the screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwrrrrrrrrrrrrrdfdfdfdfd (feedback)

I used to use the EQ20. I don't recommend it. Every EQ I've tried has brought too much noise to my rig.

Behringer EQ700. Kills the Ge-7 seriously. Dead quiet.
    $24 new

The MXR 10 Band EQ has level and gain control. Not to mention that at 18V, it is not likely to clip with a hot signal.

    Highly recommended.

I got a boss ge7 and then modded it using an eBay kit.
Result was much lower noise and hiss and a cool blue led

Pretty happy with the result. Would not be as happy with stock unit.

MXR 10 band is good stuffs. The overall volume control brings the awesome.

I use a MXR 6 band because of the small footprint. EQ's are great for pushing the highs/lows/mids a bit further on a clean signal or altering the sound of any fuzz. I use it add a bit of sparkle to my jangle, or add a bit of bass to a fuzzface-type tone. At this point, I don't see myself ever building a board without one.

Source Audio's Programmable EQ; 8 bands; you can store 4-presets and select with foot switch; you control the volume of each preset to be even, louder or quieter; super quiet operation; light aluminum casing; here's a review:
