I like matchless and morgan stuff way more than dr. z for vox tones. If you're looking to drop down in some watts, the lightning and ac20 deluxe are both amazing. If you want to stick with a higher wattage, then the hc30 or dual 40 are the way to go. Depends what you're using it for too I suppose.
I dig duo jets for their own sound, but they're not the most versatile guitar out there.
Yeah, if you're looking to move a bit away from the vox tone, then skies the limit! Some people can make Z's sound great (ie Brad Paisley), but I've just never been able to coax a good sound out of them. Personal preference I guess.
Good luck in your search!
Morgan's are definitely high up on my list. If I wanted another Vox-ish tone, I would totally go for it.I've been playing a Dr Z Rx Jr for about 5 years and love it. However, I want more of a Vox sound so I'm getting a Morgan AC20 Deluxe for that reason. I'm saying goodbye to my Z
Sounds like your mind is made up friend! Go with the Z, if you played it and loved it then who cares what we think.heajos said:Morgan's are definitely high up on my list. If I wanted another Vox-ish tone, I would totally go for it.
I just love the chime that the Z has.
