I want saturation ! What OD pedal ?

I own all the usual suspects..... OCD, BB, KOT, Analogman TS9, Analogman SD-1, Keeley Ds-1, ZW OD, Analogman JYM308..etc etc etc....

I cannot find an overdrive that saturates my signal enough. I use a Splawn Nitro and a Mesa DR. The Ts9 get close when I slam the volume and overdrive and the ZW comes real close but it is too shrill and the high end gets thin.

Am I just looking too hard ? Am I wanting TOO much saturation and just chasing my own tail ? I have been told I am......

I dont want a distortion pedal.... just something to push me into shred style nirvana.

What gives ? Suggestions ?

Track down a Pedalworx Double D. It's two vintage DOD 250 circuits in series in one pedal. Makes amps utterly plead for their lives.

Im not sure how much grind you are wanting...you sound like you want a distortion pedal not an OD but let's try this...since you already own a KoT set the yellow channel to distortion and the red channel to clean, run the clean side full up, volume and gain then click on the red sidem gain full up and set the overall volume with the red channel's volume...use both tone controls and treble trimmers to set the overall tone and use that as a single stand alone unit...if you want to click it on and off you'll need a single loop looper or work on hitting both switches at the same time.

I've used similar settings before when someone was asking for a lot more gain that I had on hand at the time...if thats still not enough or you want it in a single unit look around and get a black and yellow 5 knob Real Tube OD...lots and lots of gain in there, too muich for me in fact I swapped the 12AX7 for a 12AT7 and it's still a bit over the top!

The AMT California Sound is one of the most saturated pedals I've heard. It may be too much, though, if you're trying to get your saturation partly from your amp.

Yeah... those AMT pedals pack a lot of punch. I just have bad luck running distortion pedals into a dirty channel. Turns into a big muddy mess just like my Keeley DS-1.

I am curious about the Pedalworx DD pedal. Cannot find clips on that one.

A Dual Rec and a Nitro and you STILL want more saturation? Maybe different pickups in your guitar--something hotter?

If you're running those amps with the gain up, you'll have to be careful. Most distortions and fuzzes will just be too much. Look at ODs and boosts. Some suggestions for your gained out amp:

-Keeley Java Boost
-Lovepedal Eternity set like a boost with the gain around 9:00 and the volume up (that's what I use with my Splawn Quickrod to get a little more saturation. I think the Nitro has a good bit more gain than this though.)
-Xotic BB Preamp (these can add a lot of gain but can also act more like a good clean boost with EQ controls. Versatile...)

I was running clean into a Fender amp then a distortion pedal would be fine. Unfortunately ( or fortunately ) I am not running through a clean sounding amp. I am not in need of more distortion just saturation. I am running a hi gain amp that needs a more saturated lead tone.

Yep.... the Nitro and DR and I want more saturation. I am looking for an overdrive pedal to get me there. A distortion pedal is a wreck in front of my gear.

I am probably looking for too much saturation. I mostly play an LP Custom or a PRS Singlecut but sometimes an EVH Wolfgang or EB Supersport.

I will fiddle with my KOT pedal tonight. I have the BB and it does sound great with the DR but not so much with the Nitro. I have been searching for a new amp as well but have not found what I am looking for yet in a hi gain amp.
