I was thinking about getting a Blueboard, BT4, or similar

...and then I remembered that my old DigiTech RP-1 has MIDI in/out/through AND the Griffin StudioConnect that I bought a few months ago also has regular MIDI in/out connections. I hooked everything up, made a few MIDI assignments on the RP-1, and Voila! New foot controller for iPad modeling apps:

So far I've only assigned switches 1-5 on RP patch 1 to send MIDI 1-5 for patch changes on the iPad. I plan on assigning 6-9 for efx on/off next, but could feasibly configure it so that each of the switches in the 75 user-programmable patches on the RP1 send different MIDI data.

Old tech controlling new tech FTW :)

    Nice!

That's one of the cool things about MIDI - it's universal. Any gear that uses MIDI can communicate with any other gear regardless of age or manufacturer.

With this setup, I could have a backup for my backup!

If my HD500X goes on the fritz, I could swap over to the iPad/ RP-1; and if the iPad dies, I could use the RP-1 by itself :p
