It's not custom it's just Kevin's new pedal. Carlygtr56 posted a clip of himself using the pedal on a cover of Hendrix's Machine Gun. It sounded so good, and the playing so amazing, I called up Kevin immediately and got on the waiting list. It was fast enough because when Kevin emailed me at the end of January he told me that I got one from the first batch. I wonder how many are in a pedal maker's batch?
So far the thing sounds great. However, I can't really say anymore since I can't hear it too well. I've had the flu all week and my head's so stuffed up everything sounds like it's covered in cotton. I will when I can.
And DC/AC you're right I didn't even think of it before. I'm sick and thinking a little slow. On the KR website at www.krmusicalproducts.com Kevin explains that Hendrix was thought to have had a red faced fuzz with white knobs at several notable gigs like Woodstock and at the Fillmore with Band of Gypsies. That's why Kevin made this one red with white buttons. It's suppose to have more sustain and gain than a traditional fuzz face. If you check out his site click on "New Pedals!" at the menu and it's at the top of the page. He explains the story better than I.
It seems like that it is only very few people who actually has experience with this pedal. I'm not saying that it doesn't sound good however, all the talk about it and just very few who has tried the thing makes a lot of hype. I would like to hear other peoples oppinion about it.
