Just played an outdoor festival last night. I used my amp as my monitor (using a Standback to point it at my head). Sounded great to me. I figured the sound guy would do the rest...WRONG.

It killed me to know that sitting at home I had a Marshall Super Bass AND a Tweed Bassman AND a Dr. Z Mazerati but that my little Grestch 6159 (2x12, ~35watt Valco build) couldn't cut it. The sound guy kept asking me to TURN UP!!!!
    :peenut

Here's a video some one shot. It's not too bad, just frustrating. Sorry it's only on Facebook right now. I'm not sure how to copy and post it otherwise.

Radical! You sound great. This is the best thing I've seen on TGP probably ever. Pollard-esque singer is incredible!

I will be "Liking" you on Facebook in about 10 seconds.

Guitar sounds great. I don't understand why the sound guy couldn't jack up the sound. The amp's miked.

Sounds totally fine through my near fields.

Any louder and you'd be competing with the vocalist.

The bass was back in the mix more than anything.

Y'all sound great..guitar is at the perfect level. My only comment is your drummer needs to replace that main cymbal with something else... it sounds very brash and tinny.

Now you know why there are hardly any good sound men until you get to the higher paid gigs. And even then it's a crap shoot at best! When I play outdoors I always play w/ a 100 watt amp, you can always turn it down, but the opposite isn't always the case.

Thanks guys. I guess it does sound pretty decent on the video. I guess my beef is that he asked me to turn up but there was nowhere for me to go. I bought this amp because I thought that FINALLY I wouldn't have to turn down. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

BTW for the tone geeks: the drive tone is all Timmy and for the lead, I hit it with a cranked D*A*M Red Rooster (treble booster). The pups are Don Mare's Nightflyers.

If you liked the tune, you can download the album for free here:http://bookmobileohio.tumblr.com/

I'm seriously failing to see the problem here. The guitar is loud and clear in the video.

It wasn't an issue with your amp needing to be turned up, it was an issue with the sound guy... either he doesn't know how to properly set his equipment or his equipment was under powered for an outdoor gig.

And the sound guy is damned if he wants you to turn up and damned if he wants you to turn down. The door swings both way, y'know?

A better spend of money would have been an isolation cabinet or an attenuator if you really insist on being able to crank your amp at all times for whatever reason.

It sounds good to me. Guitar is a good volume. Mind you, is the camera picking the sound up from the stage or front of house?

And I also think that ride/crash sounds like crap!

    Yeah, me too. RAWK!

Definitely agree on that crash/ride being crappy, but I'm guessing the camcorder mic had a lot to do with everything being "off" (guitar seems loud though OP didn't think so, bass is subdued, cymbal sounds raunchy, etc). Probably sounded a whole lot different if you were there.
