New Tammy pedal at NAMM
Thank you. I didn't see that. I'll remove my original post.
Thank you Captain. I removed my original post as I hadn't seen post #4.
Kind of thought this thread title was a joke until I finally came in today and realized PaulC and MXR are actually working on this. I will say, this is honestly super cool. Cannot at all see how this could be a bad idea. They’re going to sell a starship-load of those.
Paul Kantner will be thrilled.
Available “very soon”.
I know I’m buying one.
It won’t sound exactly the same.
But maybe it will sound better to some.
Nice that it's 129. I thought sure that they'd price it at 149.....
Now, the trick will be finding some in stock any time soon, when they do get released.
Really happy to see this come to fruition. It'll be great for Paul and great for MXR.
Paul confirmed in conversations I've had with him that the MXR is V2 spec so it is doesn't have the same feature set as the recently released V3 Anniversary Model. I'll certainly get one to keep my early bread board Timmys and V3 Proto company. Just the thing for a tiny jam board!
Wild speculation alert: I wonder if the Il Torino is still being made (seems harder to get lately), and if not was the Timmy intended to replace it, or was the IT phased out to make way for it.
Or perhaps there's no relation between the two whatsoever!
yeah, i def would FIND room on the board for the mxr timmy
Love to see a mini tammy...lol...might be in for one...v2 was afterall more my flavah
I pre-ordered...and used one of those 20% coupons they try to woo you back with....
In this case...yep, it worked
This part of the copy is interesting too:
"Finally, the MXR design team worked closely with Paul to select an op-amp that perfectly complements his expertly crafted design. They landed on the LF353, a trusty component well-respected by Dunlop engineers for providing high output, high gain, and hi-fi signal delivery. The resulting MXR Timmy Overdrive is a professional-grade must-have for players who want sweet, harmonic breakup that responds to playing dynamics and maintains the personality of your rig at a fraction of the size of a standard pedal."
Nice, look forward to your impressions.
I pre-ordered one, as I went on the hunt for a V2 Timmy again, and stumbled on this. I was pretty happy. The rep I ordered from told me about a week to ship (this was on 1/14/2020), but I received “has shipped” confirmation email yesterday evening with tracking code and all. I ordered two pedals in all (one is something else) and I received a shipping confirmation earlier in the day for that. I wonder if they already have the green light to ship Timmies, or if this was just a created label so they ship at warp speed on the day the green flag is waved.
Where did you pre-order from?
Here's another demo, although, puzzling how Andy and John don't focus more on what I think the Timmy does so well (low gain, and boosting):
they're making this thing sound kind bad tbh
Ordered from Sweetwater
It doesn’t seem that the v3’s are available right now and it’s been hard to hunt down. Wonder why that is?
