I used it tonight for the first time with my band with my 68 50 watter.

I had the amp on 6.5 in a very small room. I did not need a pedal all night (OK - fuzz on Cinnamon Girl) . The range of tones from clean to dirt was all there.

The sound was bigger, richer than I have ever heard in my life.

    Everyone in the band agreed.

The bass player was shaking his head in amazement.

This is the ultimate peice of gear for a 50 watt plexi if you aren't playing at huge volumes. It gives you EVERYTHING you need with tones that are really unimaginable at these lower volumes.

Like I said - I would trade every pedal I own and promise to never use one again as long as I could have my UA. The tone is THAT spectacular.

    I'm still shaking......................

the obvious question is, "how does it sound compared to other attenuators?"

the website is intriguing, if un-informative. do you have the version that switches between two volumes?

Exactly. I like to see how it compares to the THD attenuators I've been using.

I can't help on that. No previous experience at all.

Honestly - It couldn't sound better.

And yes, mine is a 2 volume footswitchable one but that's just total bonus. Even with 1 volume, I'd trade all my pedals for one.

Yes it could if you had used a Richter attenuator.

after observing folks opinions over the past couple of years, it seems to come down to those that are not bothered by the colouration that the UA has and those that are.

there was some early problems w/ the UA and the affect that it had on amps output tranny. haven't read much about it recently, tho'.

I wish I could line up all the attenuators and play through them side by side. Marshall, UA, THD, DRZ, Kendrick, Koch.. They all claim to be the best.. I have found the best luck with the Weber mini mass, for 1/8 the price of some attenuators.

I had a Weber Load Dump that sounded better than a THD I once had. Thankfully, I'm not needing an attenuator anymore.
