I personally have a 1982, and love the thing to death. Who needs a Gibson 335?

    John Scofield would agree. ;)

The quality of the late 70's early 80's Ibanez semi-hollow body AS-200's were regarded as incredibly quality and playability. Just ask John Scofied. ;)

He still plays a 1981 AS-200 to this day.

Awesome guitars that really don't need to be compared to anything- especially a Gibson 335. The as200 is its own thing completely. I think I've had 4 over the years. Favourite was an 83 that had a slightly bigger neck than any other that I've tried or owned. I wish I would've kept that one because the others were just too slim for me. Love the sound of them though and quality has always been superb.

I had one for a few years. Incredible craftsmanship, superb playability. The tone was its own thing, great in many ways. I will get another someday.

Although I have never played a Ibanez hollowbody from that time period, I own a 1979 Ibanez artwood acoustic. To this day, I can't find a acoustic that I like better. It just sounds and plays so well. Ibanez was making some really great stuff back then (and still is).

Tomorrow is NGD for me. Awaiting the arrival of a 1982 AS-200.
