I'm currently testing an old collectible pedal, not sure yet if I'll get it. I am looking for a phaser, but it turned out not to be very unlike my current Small Stone Nano phaser, and initially I'm thinking it sounds not like a 'regular' phaser, it's more flangy/vibey. I am a sound hound and can live without the collectible status, but it does look cool of course :p

EDIT: I've edited the title and topic of the thread to simply be about the Jetlyzer sound, based on these clips I did yesterday. I recorded direct to my TC soundcard, no other efx. Guitar is an Am. standard Tele.

The Area 51 noodle is the only clip featuring the Jet cuircut on full (at the end), otherwise it was not all that useable.

In return for the clips I need your opinion. :munch

    1) Is this a phaser, or a phaser-flanger-vibe-chorus, eh? I can't make up my mind!

    2) What is the sound worth disregarding the cool box and the collectible status? What other pedals, do what it does better/as good (disregarding the Jet generator)?

My only other similar pedal would be the Small Stone phaser and the Foxrox vibe, I haven't owned flangers and choruses for ages! My last experience was the Ibanez FL-9 and at some settings the Jetlyzer actually reminds me of how I remember the FL-9. Except the Jetlyzer has this very cool low vibey throb in the valley. Check the ambient single notes clip. THAT seems to be the feature for me, but it does come quite dear for that feature. And of course the Foxrox is not too shabby either, but a bit more raw.

I have the pedal for testing until tomorrow and right now I'm thinking I might pass, though I'll get a good price. But I'd love some perspective on this thing, I might never see one again :bonk

I've got the Jetlyzer and the Ibanez Renometer at home for testing. Both work well in the chain, and there seems to be no problematic gain issues.

First of all, the Jetlyzer sounds like a phasey/vibey flanger, on guitar. I really like the ultra-slow throb on bassy notes.

The Jet-circuit sound like a slow flanger going bonkers. In short, it seems useable only at low levels, creating some sludgy ambient texture behind a solo guitar.

So, first impression is: Cool phaser/flanger/vibe, it does it thing very nicely. It does look übercool.

I'll try to post clips later.

The Renometer (5 band eq with boost) is also an awesome looking pedal, and the sliders are extremely nice for toe control. That said, it doesn't give me much soundwise compared to a hi quality studio equalizer with nice a transformer or tube circuit. So, it's very nice and functional, but nothing too special.

Soundclips! 320kbps MP3s. All 'testing settings' clips feature the clean tone initially.

Phew, I now have everything hooked up on power supplies.
My setup is this: One Big John runs regular polarity, one runs positive center. Coincidentally my dual setup helped me: Each pedal has two battery clips, and if I hook one of the dual battery clips to regular polarity supply, and one to the positive tip supply, everything works fine! This goes for both the Jetlyzer and the Renometer.

Anyways, I hope this info may save a pedal from modification :)
