I have recently picked up an Ibanez S470, and need to replace the pickups.
I used to play the RG series and loved the DiMarzio Tone Zone/Air Norton setup. But that was with basswood bodies, and i've heard with Mahogany, they're too muddy.
Considering the S is very thin, would this still be the case?
I already have an Air Norton, but am now stuck on which bridge pickup to get.
Anyone had any expierence with this?

Mahogany is not muddy , tone zone is great in it but I like a paf 36th in the neck.

No, I meant I've heard that a TZ in a Mahogany body is muddy.

I never had the TZ but I had an Air Zone in an SG (with a Fender scale length neck). I thought the mids were great but it had a little too much low end for me and not enough highs. Since the only difference between the TZ and AZ is the narrower magnet and spacers, I'd imagine the general tone of the pickups would be similar. I ended up putting an AT-1 in there and I think it's a better match. But who knows... my "muddy" might be your "warm".

Your best bet may be to email Dimarzio with what you have and what you're after and let them give you a recommendation.
