It's either an LG-1 or an LG-2 from after 1962 (plastic bridge).

If it has X-bacing, it's an LG-2. If it has ladder bracing, it's an LG-1.

Easiest way to tell if it is an LG-1 or LG-2 is whether there is a strip running down the center of the back. If there is the guitar is an LG-2. If not then it is an LG-1.

The original pickguard was one of those big pointy ones Gibson started using in the mid-1950s.

Probably about the right grade of guitar for a student. Not expensive but should play ok. Those plastic bridges are awful though.
