If anyone can chime in: Mystery EMG pickups I suspect from the 80s

I bought a mid 80s telecaster a little while ago and it came with EMG pickups rather than the originals. I can't find any information on them, which model, from when. Best case scenario they're just an older set of emgs.

See the scratch mark in front of "EMG"? That's where they scraped off the "AXL/" or "designed by". These are simply el-cheepo passive single coils that come on Johnson's AXL guitars.
