Let's try this again! If your answer is going to be "give the $100 bill back" or "go buy a used one" or anything other than the make/model of a guitar please don't respond. It's a hypothetical question. Please.

Pretty simple. If someone walks up to you and hands you a nice crisp $100 bill, and tells you that you HAVE to buy an electric guitar for yourself (has to be new), what are you buying?

Better way to ask it might be "who makes the best electric guitar for $100".

Make it $300 bill or something realistic. There are very few $100 retail priced guitars out there and I love value as much as the next guy but you won't get a good sounding, playing, or feeling guitar for $100 new. Period.

Wow. It's hard to buy a crappy new guitar for $100.
It's even hard to buy a crappy used guitar for $100.

I would kick in the extra $50 or so, and get a Squier Affinity Telecaster.

There use to be a guy that traveled the guitar shows selling $99 guitars, they were tag sale guitars that he bought, cleaned and polished it and set it up

It'd have to be Rondo. I don't think GFS even has anything quite that low.

I can tell you what I would NOT get - a First Act from Walmart. JUNK.

For $100 bucks I would look on Ebay for and early 90's Pacifica. Something like a 512 or a 521. For that kind of money you are much better off get used over new. I have a 521 I bought yesterday of $75. Its a really good guitar with a wide variety of tones.

I'd buy 4% of a Gibson Firebird. ...give or take a percent or two.
