For purposes of this poll, you MUST choose (no bailing out and saying "both" or "neither"). ALSO, "my amp already has one/both of these" is a cop-out. Intent of the poll- which effect is more "essential" to your tone???

Vote and then post to explain. Peace, Peebs.

Delay by far and I will go so far as saying it must be a delay with the ability to modulate such as the deluxe memory man or carbon copy.......

Reverb! It is simply I never switch it off on my amp..

But I don't mind picking a delay as well.. Since you can set it to an extent it becomes a reverb pedal (so technically reverb again).. Haha

But I would definitely take delay over reverb. I used to be a reverb whore, but at some point just stopped using it. Seemed to make me shrink in a band context.

Definitely delay. In my opinion it can give off the reverb vibe in a way and I just use delay more.

The dynamic level of the band needs to be really low for reverb to dramatically be effective, IMO (no drums.) Unless you CRANK the reverb, and use that effect, but not for EVERY song. My vote: delay.

    Delay

You can come close to doing reverb with delay but you can't do a delay with reverb. They're both useful and necessary to me.

Delay can be used to emulate reverb so wheras reverb is just reverb.

    Delay.

You can tweak a delay to sound like a reverb, but you can't make a reverb sound like a delay.

Delay is just so much more versatile in my opinion

Delay. I can get a much better ambient sound than with reverb.
