If you could change a single thing about a Strat, what would it be?

The bridge pickup. To me they are best as an SSH configuration, or heck even a P-90. But not a hot, overwound pickup, just something full and clean.

A 12" radius fretboard for us hardcore benders. :stir

Oh, and the '2nd tone control only for the bridge pickup' mod being standard on all their guitars. It really does make the bridge pickup much more usable.

The heel where the neck joins the body. I've seen online some third party Strat bodies, and some on YouTube from Fender, where the heel is not as prominent.

And my one thing is now used up. :)

Kinman noiseless pups as standard feature ,or
access of the truss rod where the neck meets the body.

I wish they would re-release the HM Strat. Maybe with an original Floyd Rose this time. Or maybe even a Gotoh Floyd Rose.

I like my Strats just the way they are. :D
BUT, if I HAD to pick one thing.. I'd like to see them release a model with a Kahler.

EDIT: Porn.

Change the angle or location of the pickup selector switch. It's always in the way of my strumming. Maybe tuck it more down and angled into the knobs?

MIJ Contemporary strats - with a real bridge/whammy not made by Mattell

I'd make it a 24 3/4" scale

They do/did - I have one and it's my favorite

Check out the Showmaster - I have both and it's pretty durn near close to my HM. (They also come in SSS) - Here's mine and with 5 way switching (coils splitting etc) Only thing - not a Floyd - but I like playing it as much as my HM

Pickup Switching 5-Position Blade, Special Switching:
Position 1. Full Bridge Humbucker (Coils in Series)
Position 2. Both Inside Single Coils (Coils in Series)
Position 3. Both Full Humbuckers
Position 4. Full Neck Humbucker (Coils in Parallel)
Position 5. Full Neck Humbucker (Coils in Series)

the first 2 strats i owned had the bottom tone knob wired to the bridge.

my third strat didn't have that mod done to it. i brought it to the shop and told the tech it was broken. he laughed at me and explained that it wasn't a standard feature. so i had him do the mod for me.

so... that's my change... that needs to be standard. that pickup is useless to me without a tone control.

HSS is the only change I'd need compared to the original configuration, but that is so common as to be standard already

The bridge tone control is a no brainer and I sincerely do not understand why Fender does not switch over. I had a friend who worked at the factory and he said most of the players there had switched that over on theirs.

Otherwise, I agree that the heel would be good to rethink as well. The Strat has such potential, but that heel is just horrible. there would have to be a better way (or numerous better ways).

This - with position 2 on the 5-way selector setup to coil tap the bridge humbucker so that the bridge/middle pickup combination is single/single rw/rp. I have made this very change to every Strat I've owned.
