Not to sound snarky or anything but sounding like someone else has never really been a goal of mine. I’ve always picked things I like from successful players and adopted them into my own thing.
Well I took it as a “who sounds most like what you aspire to sound like” kinda thing.

Some of these choices are quite attainable with some dedication, close listening and practice.
Robben Ford would be a dream.
Even though I play twangy guitar with lots of double stops and bends...
Then I’d adapt.
Mike Campbell. Or J Mascis.
Kid Anderson. He covers so much of the stuff I want to play.
I don't really take this question as a tone chase, more a skill set I'd like to have.
As long as I can keep my other skills, Holdsworth in him prime. I got everything else I want, but if I could just add just half of his speed and touch I’d be all set.
Saw him live last year and, well...damn!
Nearly a hundred posts and no dibs for Mike Landau? There isn't enough time left in my life, or innate talent ever present in my mind or fingertips, for that matter But it must be nice being himself. He's a great listener, immaculate player, and nasty as he wants to be.
Al Di Meola
I'd go with Jeff Beck.
I love the vocal quality of his playing.
Not one women mentioned yet so I'm going with Bonnie Raitt.
