My #1 IS a copy. And so is my #2. And so will be #3 and #4 as soon as I can afford them.

People aren't falling over themselves to make a bootleg Aria Pro II Urchin. If mine was a fake, I'd think it was pretty funny.

If the fake is good enough to pass for a great guitar, then it's probably just a great guitar. You can always go on believing the lie if it makes you feel better. But I understand the question. There's definitely some psychology that plays into this stuff.

There's definitely a crowd around here that would have you believe they're above the branding, and that it's all about tone and feel for them. I'm not that cool, so I'll admit that it would probably bug me a little bit, maybe a lot. At the end of the day though, if it's a really great guitar and I like it, I just keep playing it.

No, I wouldn't be okay, but that's not the question being asked and answered.

From that point of view, a question asking "If you could somehow take it back and get a full refund, would you?" would be interesting.

I’d be pissed i paid full price, but a number one? I mean that’s my number one regardless. Wouldn’t change that at all. It’s not like it’ll suddenly be less playable and sound worse LOL.

Once I discovered my Chibson was actually a Gibson, I had to burn the building down. :(

I'd be astounded to find out that the guitar I built was not really built by me! Who can you trust?

My #1 is a knockoff, a Tokai copy of a Tele. It plays better than most Fenders I've played, so I'm good with that.

Had it for 38 years not likely it wasn't built in Nashville.

I'm right there with you...If I payed 3 grand for a custom shop guitar and found out later it was a phony, I would be majorly pissed....but the deal is that high end guitars are the perfect model for the law of diminishing returns when it comes to functionality...so I don't buy them...

I play well enough to make a decent guitar sound good (sometimes really good), and don't have a big enough audience to worry about much more..Asian made 'low-enders' these days are so good that I'd rather have 2 grand tied up in a half dozen of them than in one showpiece

If your No. 1 were really a Chibson, that would make it even better in TGP Land.

I wonder if I’m this shallow....

I had a 67 Fender Coronado that just played so so well, very creamy. I just could never get over the headstock and bright cartoonish cherry sunburst finish. In spite of its great playability and wonderful tone, I sold it.

My 54 Custom is and always has been, very awkward to play. It sounds amazing to me and is my main guitar for the most part, but it has never played as well as several other Paul’s I’ve tried. I’m probably equally shallow hanging on to it and forcing myself to use it when I could have moved on to another years ago. It does sound special and it is a real 54 with mojo.

Right? Cuz Fenders are awful. Not as awful as Gibson, though. They're the awfulest.

My guitars are all so cheap that nobody would bother knocking them off. If I found out that they were fakes, I would be confused, but it wouldn't really matter.
