If you have a Mini Silver Jubilee, is a DSL redundant?

I used to own a JCM2000 50W that sounded good, but it's been awhile. I remember the green channel being perfect for riding the volume knob from clean to dirty and getting the best tones.

I just got a Mini Silver Jubilee, which is a great amp. I think the clean tones are a bit lacking compared to the DSL. Can my current amp cover all the bases the DSL can, minus the cleaner tones? Another amp I'd consider is a Badger 30, which has supreme cleaner tones and great gain sounds.

I could live with just the Jubilee, but was just wondering about the comparison of the two Marshalls. It's great having a Marshall in my home again.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think it's redundant at all. The DSL green channel in crunch mode is a killer tone, and it's easily different enough from the Mini Jubes tone to recommend one too.

If I ever have enough space for a stack again (tiny house), I'll have one right next to my Friedman Runt 20. They sell pretty cheap still, especially for what you get.

As for the Badger, I could never bond with the drive tones on any of them. They compress way too much at higher gain. As for cleans and light gain, they're really good.

Hey congrats on the new Jubilee! I got the combo myself last week and I think it's a great amp. I had a DSL50 stack a year and a half ago or so and yeah I liked the great channel....red was good too. But....honky mids. The honkiest. Couldn't dial em out without nudering the tone. Now my 1960B had G12T-75's in it...maybe those were the culprit? I dunno.
What I'm loving about this Mini-Jub is that the cleans are very very sparkly and musical. They aren't Princeton warm and round...but then again the sound holds together way better than a Princeton will at high volume. No farting out. And the gain channel has just about all the classic to hard rock Marshall tones I could want. And this amp takes pedals great too.
The Runt is more Polished for sure, a little more straight forward to use even....but this Jub just had more of the "sound in my head" that I was looking for. Made me grin. And that's the Runt 20 I'm comparing. I personally didn't like the Runt 50 at all when I tried it.
Back to the Mini Jub cleans...
I had gift cards from Xmas and I was looking for either a reverb or compressor. I ran into the Keeley 4 Knob compressor and wow. Got it. Made a Blues Junior sound insane at the store. Put it into the Jub and the cleans are incredible, especially with my strat. If you don't have a good compressor, I'd try one out.

I had the same reservations when I heard the Runt 20. I was very interested but I took the mini-Jube. I had it on order since last April and it finally came in at the end of Sept. I just like everything about it and continue to enjoy it at home and playing live every other weekend.

I have a PRRI too, so I can use that for my Fender cleans. You're right about the sound in my head tones. I was smiling today playing mine with my tele because that was what I always wanted my tele to sound like with a moderate amount of distortion.

^^^ That's what I'm talking about. People are totally happy with Marshall and Fender amps. This grin is the design goal actually. It's not something that just happened, but rather a result of putting out some serious work by many specialists.

EDIT: Ok, I regret I posted it. My spoken support of quality is coming to the end, my friends.
