WOW...Richard Bona is a worldclass musician and I never get sick of watching him and I'm a guitar player. Great Voice and Chops for days. Cool Clip.

Wow, I like that! And I'm pretty picky about "me too", gratuitous shredding, jazz fusion players. That guy brings something new to the table in phrasing. Just what I need to sometimes balance out my jazzy blues/bluesy jazz listening. Thanks for that.

Bona is my favorite of the vocalists that have played with the Pat Metheny Group. With the other Group personnel taking a break, Bona switched from guitar/percussives to fretless bass and did a killer mini-set in a trio with Pat and drummer Antonio Sanchez.

It's too bad Sylvain Luc's itinerary for 2009-2010 is all in Europe. Makes me wish I live there.

LOVE both of those! Thanks for posting.

but.............that's not really jazz is it? Doesn't he play with Pat Metheny?

    JUST KIDDING TAG!!!....;)
(admire your loyalty to your beliefs....as the saying goes...JAZZ IS YOUR RELIGION) :AOK

I love ALL the things I've heard Bona do. He brings some serene funk to Pat's groups that would be sorely missing without him,a different flavor than Mark Egan (more ethereal post Jaco IMO). He has a sweet soulfullness that is totally infectious, like this one. - another vein of music , but nice :

Bona was also great with Mike Stern. Too bad I didn't get to see him with Zawinul Syndicate too.

+1 - and too bad Richard didn't get Mike to turn OFF that hackneyed chorus pedal...ruins his sound for me - just like McLaughlin now... 2 ballsy players that sound neutered.

THAT is EXQUISITE - one of the coolest loop usages I've heard..THANKS!
