If you put 4 Celestion Golds in a nice 4x12 cab, could that possibly kill you ?

.... sort of like too much great tone all at once? .... a tone overdose?

I have two Golds that I am really enjoying in a late 60s Kustom tuck and roll cab, but was wondering what 4 of those puppies in a Marshall 4x12 would sound like?

I would use early Marshall cabs w. alnicos and that review over at professional.celestion.com as some kind of reference here. Also I'm almost sure Steve Stevens runs this exact configuration in one of his cabs.

I think Wichita has four Golds in a Marshall cab.

I put 4 blues in a Marshall style cab and did not like it. Took em out about 2 weeks later. I know they're not golds but they are similar.

    Something missing compared to greenbacks.

I have a friend that has a recovered '68 Marshall cab loaded with 4 Golds, and it's the friggin' best thing I've ever heard in my entire life. He' very well off and a collector, but he can actually play, so this kind of extravagance doesn't bother me in this particular case. I have an Avatar 1x12 with a Gold, but Jeez, I want a 4x12 with Golds now!!!

No but 4 Golds and Chuck Norris in the same room would open up a black hole of awesomeness as that much awesome in one point is too much for our universe to handle.

I bought an Avatar Premier Vintage(Mojotone/BB style) cab w/ 2 Golds
a few months ago that cost me $580.00; shipped.

The Golds are around $250 /ea., so I got a very nice cabinet [as a bonus]
    for $80.00 - that's the way I see it.

It's fairly easy to spend $1000 on a guitar or an amp, so why would it be
that hard to drop $1000 on speakers ?

He has a cab with golds in it, but It's not a 4x12, it's a recording cab of some sort. He uses v-30s in all of his cabs live. He's my cousin :BEER

i thought that in the interest of TGP peace and harmony you were going to keep the nonsense threads confined to the Pub. What gives ?

I think 4 of the same anything in one cab is a waste.

Dude I'm sure that would be great.

I also think they would sound good with a set of G12H30's.

Just try the two in a closed back 4x12 cab mounted in an X pattern - now you have a Detuned cab that should sound really, really good. :BEER

You know, that's not a bad idea.

I would have the volume of the big 4x12 and it should give me a taste of the tone ( maybe at a reduced volume ). The only thing is, to get a sealed cab effect, I would have to seal off the spare 12" holes. :YinYang
