Would you go for it?

My wife and I agreed about all this stuff before we got married. We also agreed that if either one of goes against said agreement then we end it.

    Indeed.
And for those who do not need full commitment and willing to share love.

Intriguing thread. So I tend to agree with several posters in here...seems like this would be a no-win proposition for the husband. The wife would, in theory, have WAY more options than the husband.

For the few brave members who have posted that they're in an open marriage, or have close friends who are, is this typically the case? And how do you deal with it?

It depends on what you're looking for. Yes, a woman can find a bedmate *snaps fingers* like that. If all you're looking for is some strange, as a guy, yes, it's buckets of work and frequently feels not worth it. If, however, you're looking for something more akin to a secondary relationship, it's just as much effort for a woman as it is a man, albeit with more options.

For what it's worth, I'm finding the youth - what I define as the "30 and under" crowd - are becoming far more accepting of non-monogamous relationships. Not just promiscuity - which I believe will always be a more prevalent behavioral pattern among the young - but actual, romantic relationships involving more than two people. They're still certainly not the norm, but I feel they're becoming far less marginalized.

Since this is TGP, does "open marriage" mean we tell her how much we really are spending on gear? If so, NO. :)

The answer is still NO though.

********, Edit I guess parts of the English language are banned - your assessment that is would not for "real and true "relationships is not true, what you can accurately say is it would not work for YOUR relationship.

Have not read thread - however, if suggested I would assume she wanted to get corn cobbed by something that I don't have.

There are tons of nut case batsh*t crazy people out there. If you married one, you most likely got divorced in short order. If you got lucky and got a good one you are most likely in for life. I can’t imagine playing Russian Roulette with multiple partners and inviting the potential chaos into my life. I have spent 20 years just trying to understand one woman…zero interest in compounding things!

    Hookers…well that is different;)! Discuss:

Would you feel comfortable if it was obvious your shared mate was much more adequately satisfied by her fellow companion and still wanted you in the picture for marriage?

I seldom have the desire now and why piss all over someone I do love. If I had the desire to live that life I would have remained single.

If she suggests that it's most likely because she has already started down that road.

That's frequently the case, for a variety of reasons. Medical, for example.
