I started playing guitar about 25 years ago. I play quite a bit but I'm not very good as I do a bunch of other things as well, but guitar still is my main instrument. I had an amp that was passed down to me but no effects.

So I bought a pedal or two, and wasn't crazy about them. The local shop had a Digitech DSP-21, which I thought was very cool at the time, so I bought it. Thinking I'd be better off with that than starting from scratch with pedals, especially since I wasn't impressed with what I tried. Thus, I went down the digital/simulation path early on and for the most part stuck with it.

Man, have I missed out. In the 90's, I bought a Russion Big Muff - and always loved that sound better than anything I could get out of my sim's or multi-effects. Why it took me so long to look for more in pedals I can't explain, other than I'm a slow learner. A couple of years ago I figured it out and I started buying pedals, like mad. I'm now obsessed and really, really wish I could turn back the clock. Better late than never, I guess.

So I've been lurking here for a while but finally joined, just to fuel the obsession a little more...

BTW don't get me wrong - I still like amp sims and pedal sims, etc - I just feel like I missed out on a lot of great stuff with pedals over the years.

    Better than being a moran!

If it helps I only got into pedals about eight years ago. Mainly why I started here was to get up to speed and determine what I was interested in.

I'm sure the pedals subforum will offer plenty of opportunity for you to blow your entire nest egg and end up destitute in a gutter. Welcome.

    That’s simple:

I found the pedal combination that works for both bands I play with!

Just wait til you start posting after the introduction. You’ll be regularly informed about what a moron you really are!

Don’t worry about though, people here are just passionate about their stuff.

    And other people’s. :bonk

Come hang out in The Pub once in a while. There are a few morons in there you'll probably get on with just fine.

I'll likely be one of them.

Welcome to the alternate reality that is TGP. :)
