I sort of agree and disagree... the thread about guitar amps being ugly is a smaller part of a larger trend of just constant negative threads lately, including this one. I mean, four out of the five threads that are trending right now are based in negativity... guitar amps being ugly, incivility on the amps and cabs forum, bad customer service, why did john mayer ditch fender... people don't want to actually talk about gear they like anymore.

Remember the show your pedalboard threads??!!! come on... we can have fun here. Don't let TGP be as negative as the rest of the world.

I have never been to said forum, but I can only imagine with that place is like. I used to race mountain bikes in the 90s thus trained on the road. The road crowd was the biggest bunch of snobs I ever met pound for pound.

I'm truly puzzled, because the vicious, twisted crap that routinely pollutes much of the internet is notably absent here. Even the occasional pissing contests that take place on TGP are mild in comparison to most other forums. I'd say it's like comparing a pillow fight to a knife fight.

Geeze, I appreciated your contributions and commentary.

Don’t let things get you down. Take a week off, come back and forget this moment in time.

    We’ve all been there.

I hear ya Russ... I’ve been here since 2004, and I love this place.. fwiw, I’ve come to just pass over the bozo comments here and sort of dismiss those types as probably not real musicians, so It really doesn’t matter what they say.. I tend to find answers in the good posts that knowledgeable people here post. And they’re a lot of good folks with lots of knowledge here still.. (I hope that some folks think of me that way)...been at this a long time and I’ve shared the stage with many major acts over the years and have always respected them musically and have had great conversations with many of them.. I try to remember this when some bozo posts an ignorant comment.. he ain’t gonna ruin it for the rest of us.. Take care and ignore the ignorant :)

Meh. I don't let what people say in person bother me much less what is posted on the internet. I can scroll past the comments in real life or online.

I don’t agree. I belong to what’s known as the most brutal site for mma. Those guys are cool as hell even if you disagree. Try disagreeing with the lunatics here who are into “fuzz” where they get there pack mentality. The fuzz must have destroyed there brains.

With access to the ignore feature of both thread and person, Im not sure why a moderator is needed. I seems like we have all the power we need in our own hands to shape this into what we want it to be.

    Fair point indeed.

I'm of the opinion though that, as great it would be for everyone to be "self policing" on an internet forum, some people still need to have someone reminding them that they're a guest, and please conduct yourself accordingly.

    LOL, Dude Really ??/

Just read though it - Guess what - Even SPLATT answered ! There is basically NOTHING there that even hints at incivility. Just the usual attempt at a lame joke about tan pants , and it was to be expected. It's actually a benign thread. Touchy much ?

And report if it’s against the rules of the forum you’re not wrong.
It supposed to be member policed
Unfortunately too many are afraid of hitting report, play the ‘tattle tale’ card but then complain the forum isn’t civil.

kinda like complaining about being robbed but refusing to call the cops

    imo and all

It is strange how folks go right for the attack, specifically on TGP.
Today all I did was use the proper term for machine-heads & the OP came in like they were on fire!
I have my own theory about why it's so toxic in here, but even that would garner many attacks, so I will keep it to myself.

All these threads go the same way... someone complains about TGP going downhill, then a bunch of people say the OP is being too sensitive, and the thread about the toxicity becomes toxic, then we all get headaches
