Its all in the ear of the beholder.
F.U.C.K.and Balance where Meh at best imo but others feel they are VH's and Sammys opus.
Actually I just cant stand Sammy singing in VH, most of their songs lyrical
contents at that time were - When its Love,Love Comes Walking In,Why Cant this be Love........
We get it Sammy Love is on your F'n mind all the time.
    J/K.
But honestly I just never could understand why VH and Sammy got together in the first place but hey what do I know.
Its like diluting gasoline with water imo.
    :bonk

People are clearly entitled to their opinions. If someone likes the Sammy stuff better, more power to them and their "light rock" leanings. But, I can't get over people telling me that "Balance" is a better album than this new one when they've only heard "Tattoo" off of it.

So if you like Sam you're 'light rock'.

    Mmkay.

considering Vh is damn near a Montrose rip off to begin with...

No, but Dave has never been about that and doesn't claim to be. Sammy seriously thinks he's one of rocks greatest writers ever, on par with Zep....I mean his solo stuff is enjoyable but some of his lyrics have been as cringe-worthy as Dave's but Dave's in on the joke-always has been.

Besides. 80's rock was all about fluff lyrics. I'm talking about current RELEVENT Lyrics.

Let it go Ben... no reason to get mired in the Roth vs. Hagar crap, right? IMHO this album will speak for itself on the return and reunion of one of the best rock bands to ever play. If you start getting baited into the Van Hagar stuff, you will be like Sammy is now -- on the outside looking in... longingly :p
    Scorned Lover I guess...

"Blue eyed murder in a size 5 dress" = my favorite Van Halen lyric.

I was listening to 5150 for the first time in years and appreciate it more now than I did back then.

The music to "Good Enough" is the one Hagar song that DLR would've killed if he'd had a shot at the lyrics. I can't really imagine Dave singing on the other Hagar-era music.

Other then Amsterdam, Take me back and the Instrumental balance is a horrible album IMO. This new record is far superior even though I don't like all of it. Of course most Van Hagar fans will disagree. 5150 was probably the best Hagar Album.

5150 is likely my favorite VH album, just slightly ahead of Fair Warning.

Hey guys its all tongue and cheek.
The fact that these aging rockers are still stirring it up and we are furiously debating is all gravy.
I dont hate Sammy and I dont Hate Roth. I dont like Hagar era VH but like Roth era.
I actually will step away and listen to 2 of my desert island top 10 records.
Van Halen II and Montrose and my world will be right again.
    Lolz......
Again no offense intended just IMHO.

RE: Vocals too loud in the mix
Guys, you do realize the people helping VH make this record are pro's right? Probably of the highest caliber? I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they know how to mix and master a professional quality album. Let's let the YouTube stuff be a nice slice of what is to come, not the final product... geez.................

I think these are actually pretty good lyrics. The song is catchy, its a radio song, from what I have heard from the album clips I am excited...didn't think I would be even though I was a massive VH fan up to & including ou812. Never thought I would get to hear a new album with Roth, no more sappy ballads sounds like there is some rockin going on :aok
