I'm having a set of Holmes Humbuckers (450/455) put in my R9...

I have them in a Les Paul. Everything you would want in a good PAF, in my experience. Mine also have Throbak covers because I think they look better.

I love my Holmes pups. Ive had them a few years now, and I like them more than ever.

Very clean and clear pups. Many would consider them bright, but that's what I'm after. 1s bright may be someone elses clean and clear.

The Holmes pups have also be A2 for years. He went to A2 long ago. Only his first pups had A4.

Outstanding clean tones, wonderful complexity and an amazing smooth clean sustain that I never found in other Humbucker's. I liked the bridge position more than any other Humbucker I've ever heard or played. The neck pick up on the other hand I was not as crazy about. My favorite neck Humbucker is still a Duncan antiquity wound to around 7.5

Well,
got the R9 back today.
Wow...these pickups sound so fat and full and defined!
They look great too, with the aged nickel covers (zebra bobbins underneath).
The cleans on both pickups together is just what I was hoping for. The neck is fat and full alone.
The bridge is just the right amount of treble with some more mid presence than I was expecting.
Overdriven (RedPlate Blackverb 50 watt head, 112 cab V30, and The Dude pedal) is just superlative.
Touch sensitive and clear with that perfect fat LP/fat tele type of tonal thing going on.

Happy here...and just in time for the big New Year's Eve bash we're doing!

I'll have to order up some of the aged ThroBak pickup covers. Love the Holmes pickups in my R9, but have always wished for more aged looking covers.
