Really good slide players are few and far between. Maybe this will also help change your mind:

Yeah, that's KILLER! Sonny Landreth is the best slide player that I've ever seen. The video is cool but what he does is so much more impressive when you see him in person!

I love Duane Allman and Jeff Beck when it comes to slide guitar. However, leave it to a Beatle to come up with a different style of slide guitar playing. George Harrison slide playing is totally distinctive without a real hint of blues but more of a fusion of Indian influences and melodic style of playing. I think his slide tone and phrasing is impeccable IMO.

I agree. Totally devoid of blues and very refreshing in that regard.
You always knew it was him when you heard his playing. Great player.

No question, those two are as good as it gets.
Lots of other folks up in that same rarified air tho, playing different music, different styles.
But, yeah, those two. . holy chit, badass is right!

I don't always care for slide guitar myself, but those two in the OPs post are the 2 best I've ever heard. I think Sonny Landreth is the best slide player of all time.

Sonny and Derek are two of the best that there's ever been and "Congo Square" is one of my favorite SL tunes.
    Thanks for posting this!

Sonny Landreth's Strat with a Tele bridge is pretty cool, also I just love how he back frets behind the slide, great technique, him and Derek together, slippin and a slidin, oh yeah this rocks

I though I'd add these videos because it's just him with some great close ups of his technique.
