I spotted this amp in the Emporium and simply could not resist.

Outstanding collector condition, original Jensens,
all necessary circuit refurbs done with high quality components
and workmanship.

The amp should arrive this coming Tuesday!

have you played one of theses before? was curious if the 10" was built to mostly reject bass frequencies and act as a tweeter in that cab. lets us know when it arrives if you haven't demo-ed one before.

I'm going to have to be very careful with these old original drivers.

As budget permits, I may decide to box up the original speakers for preservation
and install new replacements for working practicality.

My goal is to gather a few very select specialty amps.
This '64 Supro Vibra Verb definitely fits the bill.

Most remarkable, that a vintage Gem like this cost about the same
as the retail for a Vox AC15HW

Obviously, I intend to use this fine amp at home for recording.
I would never dare take it to a typical bar gig.

As far as safety of investment, I think I've Chosen Wisely.

This is THE amp featured in Dave Hunter's amp column in this month's Vintage Guitar Magazine (pg 58).

Two channels, 35 watts, rare 15" and 10" Jensen speaker combo.
Reverb and vibrato on channel 2.
Tubes: 2-6L6, 5U4 rectifier, 5-12ax7, 6DR7 reverb driver.

Andrew did a fine job attempting to show every detail.

I asked Andrew if the amp runs quiet, like studio quiet and he said yes.
LeonC tells me the components used in the circuit refurb are higher quality than original.
I'm more concerned about the amp arriving safely than anything else.
Even though the amp was carefully packed, Shipping Gorillas rarely pay any attention to "This Side Up"

Nice score. I've always had a thing for amps with two different size speakers...

And that Supro is a wall-hanger. Errr.... "don't touch it. Don't even look at it."

I've had some amps packed really well that show up smashed up pretty good...and then I've had some that weren't packed worth a damn show up completely unscathed. You just never know...luck of the draw. Hopefully it'll arrive w/o issue.

re: parts "upgrades" -- yeah, a lot of old Valco-made amps used these crappy brown paper+wax wrapped "American Standard" caps in many positions after the input stage. I say they are "crappy" because they're typically dried out and don't function properly anymore (whereas you typically don't see this kind of problem with something like old Ajax blue-molded caps). So it's not uncommon to see them pretty much replaced.

I'm not 100% sure which replacements were used in your amp Rob...but I don't think it'll dramatically alter the amp's personality. There are some things that Valco did with cheap components, however, that experts (like Terry Dobbs) tell me is worth preserving, however, like the cheap ceramic disc caps in the input stages...those I wouldn't mess with. Sometimes certain parts--while chosen for their low price--result in a certain sound/performance characteristic that isn't perfectly reproduced by expensive "upgrades"... Yet there are other positions in the circuit where the expensive upgrades might make sense. So we can't just make blanket statements about the advisability of parts upgrades across the board. That kind of thing sounds good when marketing a product (i.e., "We use only the finest quality blah-blahs in our amps")...but I'm inclined to trust the experience of someone like Terry when it comes to getting these old Valco-made amps to sound their best.

Anyway, congrats again; looks like a really cool score!

The amp is at the local distribution hub, 35s minute from me.

I just got off the phone with FEDEX advising them that this package
requires extra care because the contents are museum quality, rare
and damn near irreplaceable in this condition.

To make sure the package is kept upright and secure coming up
my hilly, bumpy mountain road.

When the driver delivered my Reeves Super 78, the Amp was upside
down and the speaker cab was laying over on its side.

That can't happen with this amp.
