I recently was given a vintage (66-67 ?) Ampeg ReverbRocket 2 (GS 12 R) and it has a vintage Jensen C12Q (220833) speaker with a Bell cap. After briefly researching this amp I believe these originally came with a either a CTS or Jensen ceramic magnet speaker. Who can fill me in on the specs of this amplifier. This is the older model with the black tolex with the gold piping .....

    Thanks,
    Ken

Jess Oliver told me components could change based on availability.
My '64 Reverberocket had a 15 watt Ampeg label CTS ceramic, My 65 Gemini I came with a Jensen ceramic.

That speaker's date code is 220833. 220 is Jensen and 833 is the 33th week of 1968.
Now the 8 could be 1958, 1948 or 1978. But they didn't make ceramic magnet C12Qs in 1958 and Jensen was out of the guitar speaker biz by 1978.

For that to be the original speaker the amp would have to be dated a little later. Which could be the case expecially with black tolex.

Can anyone tell me how many watts this amp puts out?

How many watts is the Jensen C12Q speaker rated for? I assume it's an 8 ohm speaker?

Any other details about this amp?

    Much appreciated!

The RR2 put out about 20 watts. The original Jensen C12Q was conservatively rated at 16 watts and would probably be considered a 25 watt speaker by todays standards. The C12Q is a ceramic Jensen. A few amp manufacturers used bell covered ceramic Jensen's. I've seen them in a few Gretsch/Valco amps also.

The black tolex RR2's were short lived and made towards the end of 1967 through early to mid 1968.
