Nice. Sounds extremely similar to what I got out of a Zendrive into a mildly cranked 1974x a couple of weeks ago at Euphoria Studio...

...about $1750 total, if you want to put a dollar value on it. Not counting the low-wind Imperial in the bridge position.

Hi Greg,

I have always thought you sound great with that Fuchs. I'm trying to get that sound with my Ethos but I'm not there yet. Thinking of getting a Fuchs pedal as I can't afford the ODS yet.

Cheers,

i think the ethos is good, but i dont think it is really that close to dxmble land as far as lc and ford go...I use it for a refined jazz sound that actually gets close to scofields sound, as the ethos has a very bright attack to it, which many dislike, and i do too somewhat, but playing with the bridge pickup near the bridge with your picking hand on the OD channel of the ethos gets even closer than my rat (which sco uses)...And all this is depressing because I wouldnt normally ever use this sound in a live context...but i just use the ethos for what it is...its the only drive i know of that has a great clean boost, an od channel and a boost...with my reggae band it is great because that is all i need...put a ts9 before it and yuour into shred territory...someday i will get a fuchs, but until then the ethos, ts9, rat, and tonebone classic cover almost all the ranges of drive I wish to use

btw great tone on that recording...

I'd like this backing track, or a link to it please ??? I need to cut an insane blues too, and dammit, I am often accused of being insane, so I'm qualified.

Hello Andy,

Here is a link to the BT thread: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/327005

You will find many first rate bt tracks on Althrax soundclick site and the site called jamtrax.ru

Hi Mats,

TYVM for for all your great backers.

I have heard you get some great tones out of the ethos too.

You might want to consider a used Fuchs modded amp with the parallel loop feature.

I would imagine that the difference would perhaps best solved by an amp, but here's some alternative ideas.

You may want to also consider hitting the ethos with a Dumkudo, Zendrive, Barber Small Fry, or similar in the category of flamboyant D style pedals. These are all demoed pretty well on youtube.

I have personally found the amp to save me alot of money in the end, being satisfied and all.

Since the loop affects the tone too, this is what I do in the loop....

I run my loop at about 20-30% send and 20-30% return and I have a Carvin XP2 chained dual processor, cranked input and output, it goes into an intellifex which is varied as my wet-dry control and it averages around 50% input and 40% output. Then back into the return.

I mainly rely on the Carvin for modulation and analog ambience and on the intellifex for detune and delay.

Im not a pedal guy but I do utilize volume pedals and an rc booster from time to time.

I'll check to see if we recorded the track I'm thinking of. If so, I'll be happy to post it under "Insane Zendrive Reggae" :phones

Awesome playing and tone. I have a Fuchs ODS/MusicMan 2x12 Combo and I haven't found the key to getting that sound. I know that tone is in the fingers.

Does this do something significant to the tone:

If it does, or even if it doesn't, would you please explain what the Carvin and intelifex are?

Thanks.

Hi Yossi, since everything including the guitar and the cables is a factor you have to look at each part.

The best way is to make alot of recordings...I have leaned a ton through constanly recording.

To answer your question...the racks are making a subtle difference but not huge.

I heard a clip of tags music man and it's great...but needs to be outed to a good cab imho (since the MM is very open in the back and you get alot of sound diffusion.) Do you have a parallel loop in yours?

Still, lets start with how I build my tone.

A. Set your amp & guitar to deliver a nice pleasing clean or semi clean jazz tone.

B. Begin to add drive to it in small amounts and see where you can go with it. Figure out what each knob, switch an push pull pot does for you as well. Then learn to set what you like best for each style you play.

C. Work on your technique so you can evoke the style, dynamics, and phrasing that go with the tone you choose.

D. Record each step of the journey keeping track of your favorite amp settings and realize that some settings may be quite different from one guitar to the next, and one room or venue to the next.

E. Use your favorite records as a benchmark and each day try to inch closer to the goal. Allways make buying something else the last option and learn to get the most out of what you have.

That's my formula in a nutshell.

PS: sorry...forgot to explain what the Carvin and Intellifex are...they are rackmount multieffects processors and the most available subtitute would be the rocktron xpression which supposedly can do the job of both the Carvin and Intellifex...about $160.00 on ebay.

Nice groove !!! Enjoyed the ride!

Thanks pinner!

PS: Yossi If your amp has chinese tubes ditch them...

Maybe Tag could suggest tubes for the MM/ Fuchs.

You could also check with Dan at Dan's guitars website...he picked and installed mine....very happy.

nice clips Greg!

Thx!

You still using a Fuchs?

What can you tell me about tweaking the gain trims...never have done that considering I'm happy as is.

I guess my real question is will it become more compressed at all settings if you up the gain?

Thx!
