Its at the Fillmore East, but I have to go with Ten Years After.....it is simply smokin'.
Thanks for that. The cachet does survive: the most recent one I saw was from Chris Isaak, and that was in the last year or so.
Very good. There was one more thing about it that the bands responded to: the audience. If they felt the band was bringing it they gave back everything they had. I was at the Fillmore East quite a bit and saw some unforgettable performances. Sly and the Family Stone, the Chambers Brothers, they just killed.
I was in the audience the night John Mayall recorded his Live at the Fillmore record. I thought the performance was dull, and I thought the record was dull. But it was a good seller for him.
Band of Gypsies, Allmans and Humble Pie in the East and Mike Bloomfield and Friends in the West.
Tommy Castro - Live at the Fillmore
Allman brothers live at Filmore East.
Years later, I had the CD with me and Greg Allman signed it for me.
Thumbs up on Ten Years After!
I buy *anything* Live at the Fillmore, by default.
Here's an old gem I discovered recently; curiously refreshing
That's exactly what I was gonna post! Same album, same song.
Get HP Rockin the Fillmore complete recordings. All 4 sets on 4 discs with 4 different versions of IWOGS. The remix is amazing!
The Fillmore, the Budokan, the Village Vanguard--they're great places to play in exciting cities that are also set up to facilitate live recording. And once one cool act has done it, it becomes that much more appealing.
Add Red Rocks to that list, especially for concert films.
The DVD of that concert is still tops of my all time favorite concert DVD's ever made.
I have it. One of my favorite box sets.
It's in the apples. They must be putting something in those apples!
Oh & I dig Joe Satriani's Live at the Fillmore.
It's a bit different than the Roxy show, but Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at the Fillmore East in 1971 is pretty wonderful.
Really....two pages and no mention of this?
