Looks interesting, can't say I'd be chomping at the bit to buy a 'one off' though.

I wonder if Hogy has anything to say about this piece?

I would love t o own that piece. I think I am more of Liverpool guy than an Express guy anyway.

However, $6-7k? FO-GETTA-BOUWT-IT. It states in the ad that it is a Liverpool clone. Is it the same or similar? It is a Komet, but other clones sell for $600-1500. What is it worth? What will someone pay for it? I would pay what I would for any other Komet.

Would LOVE to have the cash to buy it though...

I got it from Hogy years ago. Traded a pair of PAf's and some $$. And then I stupidly traded it to my Buddy who sold it.

It is a great amp and unique. I don't know the seller though.

Yeah, I built that. It's a Liverpool style circuit with slightly different transformers, not a direct "clone". I was hoping to add it to the Komet line, but Ken Fischer was opposed to using that circuit. He wanted to do something new and different with EL84s. Remember, this was before "clones" were available. I believe at that point there weren't even any accurate schematics or pictures, and Ken did not want to "repackage" old TW circuits. Really, he wanted no "clones", period. He felt that those Trainwreck circuits were designed around tubes and speakers that were no longer commonly available, so a new amp was to be designed and voiced around current stuff. He also felt that the Liverpool was too specialized of an amp and required a certain type of player to sound the way he had intended.

There are two of these, as I experimented with the layout and possibly the transformers (can't remember). The other one was more aggressive, this one was a bit bluesier.

Ken asked me not to make any more, so I didn't, and won't.

If anybody here ends up with this amp, I'd love to see it again. I don't even have pictures of it. You cover shipping and I'll give it a full going over for free. If memory serves I figured out a nice improvement after it was gone.

Well that lends some justification to the 6k price tag!

I wouldn't be suprised to see it go for more after some true TW affinicandos see that post!

    Great piece of Komet/Fischer history!

Is the Concorde and the Limited essentially the same amp?

A Concord or a Constellation? $3400 is severely overpriced for a used Constellation. $2200-$2300 is what I've seen them go for.

I'm pretty sure he means the concorde. I saw it for sale here a while ago.

I would rather have the 6v6 komet. I believe V-verb owns?

I wish I owned it. If things go my way...

Anyhow Hogy builds the BEST quality and toneful non MV amps period. As for quality his amps are without peer. IMO, but I've seen many dozens of amps and none have been built to the quality that his amps are.

If you want a MV amp, well I love Brandon's stuff.

    Cheers

    Nigel
