this message has been popping up on my visits to the Gear Page lately, usually as the ad starts to appear. my computer is a Dell with Windows 7 and it's running Internet Explorer 11. when the message says it's going to close the program, it never seems to close all the way, but sometimes the message in the title above re-occurs. is this happening to other people as well, and do any of you have recommendations to remedy this?

I would start with a malware and virus scan. Then disable any installed addons and/or tool bars. Start adding them back one at a time. Might be something as simple as that.

OP: I get the same thing on multiple machines , and they are all clean (according to Avast and a couple anti-malware programs).

Switching off IE is not an option at work, as we have software which cannot be run on Firefox, Chrome, etc (ex our xray-acquisition software, and a separate scheduling/billing multi-site application. Both vendors void all warrantees if anything but IE is the default browser).

It was VERY bad about 3-6 weeks ago. Still happening, but less frequently now.

I used to get that all the time, although rarely on TGP. I changed to Chrome about 6 months ago and have zero problems anymore. Make sure you install the "Ad Blocker Plus" or "Ad Blocker Super" add on. They work great.

thanks for the suggestions. it's somehow reassuring that it's not only me who has the problem.
