I made a lowball offer on it, mostly because I'm on the fence about the color. I know it's just cosmetics, but one does like to look at their guitar and have that mental "daym, that's nice." At least I do. : )

I favor more traditional colors. Heck, I felt like I was living dangerously if I got a Pelham Blue SG Special. : )

But we'll see if they take my lowball. The outlet has a no fuss return policy, so I figure it can't hurt to try it out in person. If it's a great player and tone monster, my on the fence color concerns will melt away quick. : )

I love that colour............in a pool. And SG's are great as long as you play them with a Batman cape around your neck. But, hey, it's not my choice to make. If you like it, then go for it.

Oh wells, they didn't take my lowball offer. This means I am moving on in my search. Thanks for the input folks!

If anybody is interested, the vendor is Zzounds, via Reverb. The asking price is $1,499. When I emailed them about it, they sent an offer for 99 bucks off. I countered with a lowball closer to $1k, which they declined.

Here's a linky if anybody else wants to try their luck:

Did not know about this color. Been eyeing a Pelham blue one but I might even like this better

Probs. I already had them down to $1399. But I won't do this guitar for more than $1,200, preferably less.

Go for it though if you want. :) Link is a few posts above!

I'm moving on in my search.

im the first to admit im an SG hater (and yes i own one that will be sold when the economy turns around next year) but trying to be objective, i still say thats priced too high.
I hope your lowball offer works out, friend!

Edit: also “in” before the idiots show up to chide you for your “luxurious purchase during a crisis”. If u can afford it at no harm to your household, go wild!!

Wraparound bridge is a dealbreaker for me. Otherwise I dig it.

Must be played with a white tolex covered amp. Nonnegotiable.

No. I'm a traditionalist on color. Had three SG's and two were heritage cherry while the first was black. Still have one of the cherry.

I was in the market for that very guitar (albeit in the more common Pelham Blue finish) and went to my local Guitar Center to check it out and came away very unimpressed. The quality of it in both tone, fit and finish for the $1,499 price tag was just not up to snuff for me -- so if you haven't played on of these in person yet OP, I would strongly suggest you do so before getting one of this particular model.

They sure look SO nice though!
