A while back, Seven Systems released Xequence, an ambitious linear MIDI sequencer. Sweetwater's summary of pattern vs. linear sequencing:

There aren't too many IOS apps that will let you put together a complete composition using MIDI and multiple synth apps. There are multiple "workstation" apps like Gadget, Garageband, Sunvox, etc. that will let you put a song together, but they're all self-contained for the most part, and each has its limitations when integrating with external apps. Xequence was a unique player there.

Now Xequence 2 is out, priced at $10 for a limited time. I think the plan is to raise the price sometime this week. A summary of features new to Xequence 2 vs. the older version:

The manual has an Example Setups section that gives an idea of Xequence might be used with AUM, as well as a couple of other use cases.

Nice tutorial by the same fellow who did the masterclass videos for the first version of Xequence. Xequence 2 does pair well with AUM.

Apparently the price will go up after tomorrow.

Such a great app. Really turns AUM into a decent DAW.

Is AUM an independent plug-in or what?

AUM is a mixer app. You load synth apps and stuff inside AUM, then use AUM's mixer. Each synth app is loaded into its own channel - like a mixer channel. Each channel has its own effects insert, where you can load an FX app.

You an also load MIDI apps inside of AUM and have them send MIDI to the synth apps loaded in AUM.

AUM also has a basic audio recorder, so you can capture your AUM jams in an audio file.

The stability and ease-of-use of AUM are the reasons it's the most popular mixer app and AUv3 host in IOS land.
