Is a uni-vibe just Phase and Tremolo?

    Hello all,

    Title pretty much says it all...but can you get a uni-vibe sound with a phaser and a tremolo? I was under the impression that a vibe pedal was a phaser with a "warble" effect.

    Just thinking out loud...

    No, it's Phase and Vibrato.
    Vibrato=change in pitch
    Tremolo= change in volume

    Actually, there's a bit of a throb in there too that you could compare to tremolo. I've gotten in the ballpark with phase and tremolo together but of course, nothing compares to the real thing.

    Right, but if you play an original univibe or one of the really great clones you will hear an unmistakable volume throb. I'm no expert but I think it has to do with the photo cells. I'm sure somebody else with more knowledge can chime in, I'm just telling you what my ears have told me. He asked if he can imitate a uni-vibe with phaser and tremolo and I told him he get get a loose approximation; Just answering the OP's question.
