It's gone up 800$ since it came out?

I was in the Kemper camp but I've swung Axe at least you get a sound card, separate cabs and more effects.

Kemper hasn't added anything I don't get it.

is Kemper just going to keep raising the price like gibson does?

The Axe price point has stayed the same right?

Maybe Kemper figured they had to compete on price when they were the unproven new kid and now feel they've moved past that.

Everybody says the Kemper is just as good as the Axe 2, but no one wants to pay the same price for it? :roll

Some might pay more for a Kemper than a modeler just 'cause they think it's worth more to them:phones

I'm not trying to start anything.

Its just odd and I don't get it.

The only gripe with the Axe is the interface.

By my reckoning, it's gone up by only $158.

    Old price: $1975
    New price: $2133

    Difference: $158.

Are you looking at prices for the powered version? Because those are $2772...and yeah, that's $797 more than the original price of the non-powered version.

Depends on where you are. In Canada it was about $1600 a year or so ago, now is $2300 at most places...(toaster and non-powered rack are the same price)

IIRC, the original price was much lower, this is the second price increase.

Came out at 1500$ I thought.

I would say less people are buying gibsons .

How many standards would they sell at 1500 rather then 2600 now.

You are right...Kemper is the new Gibson...Except it is more like a 1959 Gibson... I can see it now...

2013 Kemper Profiler....slightly relic'd $150,000.... ohmagawd! The guy that said Gibsons are still selling is right. Also, if it sounds great, it's worth it, IMO.

Its possible they were willing to sell at or below cost for a while just to get some market presence. Loss leaders are pretty common in a lot of industries. Hard to imagine they couldn't still make a good profit as its pretty cheap computer parts inside there. Something like a $10 CPU vs two $300 Tigershark DSP's in the Axe, but I'm sure R&D etc is high on a small scale product, plus dealer markups etc, so they really might not of made much at $1500 retail.

Here in europe the price difference is pretty vast:
    Axe 2: 2349 euros = 3 186 dollars
    Kemper: 1590 euros = 2 157 dollars

So the difference is over 1000 dollars. You also get 3 years warranty when purchasing Kemper from Thomann vs 2 years warranty for Axe from G66.

I think its all due to made in USA vs made in Europe. There are taxes and such to consider.

Is there a Kemper backlash brewing on the forums...I'm noticing a swing back to the Axe-Fx popularity wise lately. :munch
