I haven't been there in probably 20 years. I can only recall that it was, well, fried chicken and waffles. Yet, there's an aura that surrounds it. I'm thinking maybe I should go try it out again. I'm just fishing for some of your opinions of the place. Price-wise, what's it like now?

Yes, it's overrated. I haven't been back in a couple of years, but I cant imagine it's got better.

Been to the one on Pico quite a few times, although not in the last 10 years, since I left the area, and I would not consider it overrated at all. They cook the chicken to perfection....the waffles are crispy and delicious....what more can they do? Maybe not the best meals I've ever had in my life but..... for me, chicken and waffles doesn't get any better than that.

Fried chicken is one of my most favorite things. When I was at NAMM 10 years ago I made the trek from Anaheim to Long Beach to go there. No it was not life changing but it was damn good, we went back the next night.

Not unlike In N Out there is a certain level of hype that surrounds Roscoes probably resulting in a lot of people having reactions ranging from meh to disappointed.

I've never been to one, but I sure do like the commercial:

People think they make very good chicken and waffles. I think their chicken is very good, and I think their waffles are very good. So...no?

Never been there, but I'm sure it's better than Chipotle or Olive Garden.

Good enough to lure Beaumont into getting in the trunk.

Not one of the top 10 culinary masterpieces in the world, but it scratches a certain itch...Always think of 'em when I'm through Oakland, but rarely itchy in that spot any more.

I have yet to have better chicken & waffles anywhere. That includes the chicken & waffles at Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bistro.
That said I think chicken & waffles as a dish is overrated. But if you like that sort of thing or want to try it out of culinary curiosity, then Roscoe's does em the best, imo.

I didn't know they had one in Anaheim. I've been to the Pasadena location and the one by the old Hollywood Park racetrack.

Roscoe's is good if not a tad pricey.

Honey's Kettle Chicken in Culver City is my preference though. Chicken, pancakes, served with warmed honey.

    Yum

for me chicken & waffles is just too starchy & "carb laden" of a meal to have on a regular basis. particularly when most places serve fried chicken with soggy breading & dry meat (which Roscoe's does not). there's a caramelized note that hits a sweet spot with the syrup, crispy fried chicken, yams & waffle if it's done well. I think Roscoe's also blends their seasonings in a way that makes everything pair well. While most "diners" that serve the dish, just throw whatever recipes they were already making on a plate together.

I've been once. Long Beach location a few weeks ago. It was good. I thought it was overpriced, but we could have probably done it for less money if we'd known more about the portions going in.
