I have a AC15 Heritage Hand wired head.

Right now I am running it through a 4x12 cab with standard Celestion
G12P-80P (I think that is right)

I am blown away by this amp and it sounds fantastic.

I really do not need a 4x12 cab so I want to downsize to a 2x12.

The Alnico Blues are quite expensive and I wonder what else might be out there y'all have tried and think are better or as good at a better price.

    Thanks

Weber Blue Dogs or Eminence Red Fang if alnico speaker is preferred.
Personally I like G12H type of ceramic speaker with Vox. Scumback H75 is really nice, but Celestion will do too.

I don't care for the new Blues unless they are REALLY broken in but for me an alnico Celestion is the ONLY speaker for a Vox if you want all the Vox chime and sparkle.

    No

If you want vintage accurate tone the Scumnico is a better clone of the old Silver speaker than the new reissue Blue from Celestion. If you have ever heard an old Vox you'll know they don't sound like the new Blue.

I used a Vintage 30, G12h30 mix and have had many people tell me that the tone is amazing. But this is all taste preference.I don't think the blues are all that really.According to the Celestion web site the vintage-30 is a ceramic version of the blue. For the price a went with the vintage-30.This amp is a little too bright for me so the g12h30 puts a little more low end back in it.I'm sure others will dis-agree,but that's my $.02

Blues all the way - really good in a tweed deluxe as well. Probably my favorite speaker for guitar. I'd love to try them in a 4x12 cab, but it would cost a fortune!

I've played a couple of AC30's equipped with G12M greenbacks. Absolutely beautiful. I'd take the G12M's over the Blues all day long.

I know there's a lot of love for Alnico Blues (and Golds) in AC30's and 15's - but to my ears, you cant beat greenbacks.

Hands down, the best sounding AC30 I ever heard was loaded with 2 well broken in Greenbacks.

Oh ****! I didn't realize Southbay was making Alnico replacements now. Forget replacing my Wharfedales with Celestions Blues. For a couple bucks more I'm going with the Scumnicos. Thanks for the tip!

i love the new blues with my vox-type amps. can't say whether you will love it too. very creamy, lots of speaker breakup. good as a pair of blues or a blue and a G12H.

others like G12Hs, others like G12Ms...

Greenbacks sound pretty damn good with a Vox..... you can definitely still tell it's a Vox.

I'm thinking of pairing up a blue alnico with a G12H (heritage).
