I haven't read much about the Archon here (yes I've used the search feature). I'm specifically interested in the Archon 25 combo. I know it's been mostly marketed to modern metal players, and there's a lot out there about it's clean channel, but nothing about if it can do anything in between. I'm currently playing through a '68 CPR and a Blackstar HT-5RH at home and in the studio (which are the only two places I ever play). I want to replace the Blackstar and was hoping the Archon would do the trick as I like the combo factor, as well as it being handwired in the US. But if it won't do anything resembling crunch tones it won't really work. For the same price I could get a Mark V:25, and I am considering that, but I'm not sold on that either. The closest shop with either of these two amps is hours away and I'm not really planning on a trek anytime soon.

So, anyone plug into an Archon and care to report back?

i haven't played one but supposedly the clean channel is really good too so i wouldn't say its a one trick pony.

I suppose the more accurate way to have worded my question would've been:
Is the gain side of the Archon a one trick pony?
