Is there a free computer software that I can use to slow down a backing track without changing its pitch or quality? I want to do a record with my electric guitar but the backing track I found is a bit too fast for my level. And I prefer playing it slower for this particular song anyways.

For years I used a plugin for winamp called pacemaker..
You can change the playback speed but keep the pitch..
You can also change the pitch and keep the tempo the same (for when you dont want to detune)

Do you know if this is compatible with the current version (V5.6) of Winamp? I've noticed many of my older plugins don't work with it anymore...

I use it with an older version of Winamp...

I have Amazing Slow Downer which is imho the best but far from free.

Jamup for iPhone/Ipad also works but the perfomance/sound quality of ASD is much better.

There is another one that people love for iphone/ipad but I forget.
Neither are free (and ASD, at 15$, is relatively expensive for an app)

Amazing Slow Downer (not free) not only changes the speed, but you can independently change the pitch as well....and save the settings as a preset.
