I like to play in my bedroom which is very small. The 12 inch speaker on my amp gets very boomy, even a ten inch. I want to build an extention cab for 1x8 or 2x8 .Are there any decent ones that dont get all raspy when overdriven(the bad raspy) ....its a 30 watt amp by the way ps- jensons suck IMHO

Might be more of a room problem than speaker issue?

I'm not sure about your Jensens but if they are brand new, they are notorious for having a long breakin period. Just a thought before you give up on them.

try a 10" and put your amp on a chair or get it off the ground somehow. That should reduce boominess

I liked the Jensen C8R I had in a silverface Champ. Very nice clear and sparkly cleans, smooth breakup, punchy mids, tight bass. Their weakpoint was high gain.

I had a cheap ceramic Jensen 'Mod' that was terrible and put it in two different cabinets and gave up. Later, I needed a speaker for a small combo (a Silvertone with a ratty original speaker in it) and played the thing a bunch and about 2 weeks later, I noticed that the speaker really improved.

I was not dissapointed with the Eminence Legend 875 I purchased to replace the cheap stock speaker of my little practice amp.

I'd wonder what the Jensen Neo would sound like in an 8", their 10" are great, but I'm not sure the boominess of the 12" is really the speaker itself. Sounds more like an amp issue.

I dont think a 30 watt amp would sound all that great through any 8 inch speaker. You might want to look at amps in the 5 watt range.
