I've been toying with the idea of starting a two piece blues rock band lately- just me and a drummer. I'm currently running a few dirts, a fuzz, vibrato, and delay into the front end of a Germino Masonette Plexi. I absolutely love this amp and the tone I get with it, but for playing as a two piece, the idea of a two amp rig has been floating around in my head more often. I would run a second amp clean/edge of breakup. I'm thinking something like an Ampeg or a Valco-based clone. Maybe even a Blackface Bassman. I want a thick, really fat sound. This amp would (hopefully) be used for three things; a second amp to run stereo effects with, a clean amp that I can switch in and out, and an amp that I will run a fuzz and octave pedal into combined with the Germino to beef up single notes riffs. Now I will say that running effects in stereo is the least important part, because I don't need to. I'm just wondering if I can still switch in and out the amps so that I can use one or the other or both while running a stereo pedal feeding both. I can't think of a way to do this without multiple A/B boxes or mute switches. I was really into using the amps in stereo with an El Cap and a Flint, but now that C-Bread is starting to look like they're gonna make the Echorec delay soon which is mono, it would only be stereo from the Flint. So if I can do it, cool, but if not no big deal. I'd ideally like this to be the signal chain(s).
Guitar -> Wah -> Fuzz -> OD1 -> OD2 -> Phaser/Vibe -> Delay -> Flint
Stereo out 1: straight to Germino
Stereo out 2: Fuzz 2 -> Octave -> Clean amp
Hopefully that lays it out a little better. The problem is just how to switch the amps in and out.
