My Netgear is on its last planned obsolesce legs and requiring daily reboots to keep traffic flowing.

I need to get another home router but I'd like something a step above Best Buy's usual offerings.

Being a network security guy by trade, I'd love to have a device that I can monitor network traffic with and looking for anomalies, but I don't want to spend a ton of money on it. Something that breaks out usage by device and logs potentially malicious events.

Anyone familiar with a home router device that can do something like this?

Another option is get a Tomato-compatible router which you could flash. Those are usually chock-filled with options you'd probably appreciate more than the average consumer.
