Have not been to Best Buy to see if it is actually there. Make a nice stocking stuffer.
I need to go get that or tell my wife I want, I want!....for Christmas.
Telling my wife right now...keeping my fingers crossed!
My is already in the mail shipped from Amazon yesterday. Unfortunately, I won't be home to get it until Jan.
Thats on my "must have" music DVD list.
I actually rented one from blockbuster...they had one copy...I'll see it tonight.
movie is defintely like hanging with jp. i didn't know who jack white was but he's talented. funny how the original rocker is getting to be an old man and my dad never even embraced rock at all....
the edge had a huge bank of rack mounted effects in his studio..amazing how you can keep track of em all.
i see jp had an associate producer credit.
i think the guy who made it also made "an inconvenient truth" saw him on charlie rose.
definitely a cut above the average blockbuster faire!!!
Is there any difference between the DVD & the BluRay?
Just bought the BluRay from Amazon, $17.99.
Uh, the Blu-ray is HI DEF VIDEO and HI RES AUDIO!!
The DVD... ain't.
IOW, the Blu is vastly superior.
It's funny how a standard that was more than passable for many years is suddenly considered to be terrible quality because something newer and shinier has been released.
Unless you have really high-end gear (read: 1080p LCD and high-end discrete audio), you're not going to see or hear a difference, IMO.
If the guy is BUYING a Blu-ray, he must have a Blu-ray player right? That means he must have an HDTV right? You don't have to have high end stuff to appreciate the difference between them either. The A/V is really compressed on the DVD whereas it isn't nearly as much on the Blu. More detail, better colors, more filmlike, lossless audio, better everything. If there's a choice why wouldn't you get the one that looks and sounds better? Would you buy the VHS if there was a DVD?
i think he's asking if the blue ray contains more special features than the dvd which is often the case.....
but maybe not.
i love 1080P but hate not being able to skip the previews and also most blue rays once powered off never go back to where you left off.
That is called America 101...
However, the film is great and I am sure you won't be disappointed no matter which version you pick up.
I just wished I would have been a fly on the wall during the filming.
I looked for it in 4 different stores, including Best Buy and Blockbuster, and came up empty. I never even saw a poster, sign, or sticker on a shelf that showed where it was. Like it never existed--very disappointing.
Yes RK there is pretty much no press at all for this release. BB and Amazon show a release date. I walked into BBuster and just saw it sitting there.
My opinion is that even on a low end HD-TV you will see a difference.
1080P is not required. 1080i or 720P will also reveal a clear difference. DVDs are only 480P.
Hearing the difference, I'd agree that you need at least low end moderate gear to hear a noticeable difference.
I glanced at this post yesterday, and was standing in line with a purchase at my local rekkerd store last night. They had one left in a "point of purchase display" for $13-something. Totally worked on me!
Amazing Vid... Gave me a new appreciation for Jimmy P. and Jack W.....Edge not so much hehehe.
Drove all over the place here in the Denver 'burbs yesterday trying to find a copy. Sold out everywhere. The guy at Barnes and Noble told me that the distributers completely underestimated the demand for this DVD. Finally found a copy at some electronics store. They had two copies on the shelf before I snatched one of them.
Really? I thought the Edge's slide work on IMTOD was fantastic.
It seemed clear, even to Jack himself, that JW was totally out of his league. Nonetheless, I have respect for Jack White and I think he is going to have a long and lucrative career in music.
