Just curious what everyone's low-volume, late night practice amp of choice is?

Of course, you could always buy one of those POD things and use a pair of headphones, but I gotta hear some air moving, even if it's just a whisper.

What do y'all think of the little modeling combos like the Roland Micro Cube, Line 6 Micro Spider III, or the Vox DA5? Can you get a decent tone out of any of these?

Right now I'm using my Micro Cube,
    Or,
My '78 Vibro Champ and just run some pedals through the front.

Either one of my 100 watt amps (OD 100 or 2555) through my UA or Star Nova amp if I feel lazy. I cant go wrong either way.

    Then again...

I can pretty much use any of my clean NMV amps set pretty quiet and run all my pedals through it. I can get all my tones at low volumes.

THD Flexi-50... the master volume works great. actually, if i'm playing clean i don't even use the master. kick on the drive pedals and the master must also be switched on to avoid waking the significant other...

    and i live in a 1 bedroom apartment ;)

It's incredible how much better the little monster sounds through a halfway decent 12" speaker instead of the ****** Peavey Blue Marvel that was in the original combo... actually sounds like an amp instead of a dying cat :)

Superchamp XD (no external speaker cab at 2 AM) does ok. Played it last night thru a Vox AD 12" speaker and it sounds even better even at a whisper.

Matchless Lightning into a Groove Tubes SEII into a Gallien Krueger 200MV. The latter is NOT a guitar amp, but a Personal Vocal Monitor. I use it like a mini-PA in my living room.

Toneport UX-1 through my PC speakers (Altec Lansing with a sub-woofer).

In an apartment, even a Micro Cube is too loud.

I'm probably an odd duck in that I rarely practice with an amp...

My favorite late night amp is a Pandora with a good pair of Sony headphones.I have a PX 2 ,3 and 4D. They all have different patches, but the PX4D has the best drum and bass patterns.I can plug them into each other and have a late night jam with a friend.:YinYang

How did you know I sit up until 2am playing guitar, when I have to work tomorrow ??

FWIW, Bad CAt Hot CAt 30, turned down to a whisper, it still sounds sweet !!
Such is the beauty of master volumes.
I've tried the Microcube, but it all sounds like digital cheese.
