Just a matter of time methinks when Gibson will have their equivalent to “it’s a pre-CBS Fender”. I wonder if production will cease for a while. I think it will.

Like Sisyphus, pushing that boulder up the hill, only to watch it roll back down again.

On a side note, I was looking for my son’s birth year guitar and there is one brand it can’t be, despite being a brand I desire: Gibson. Why? My son was born in 2015...

Excellent...more for the rest of us. I was so apprehensive about buying one because of all the negativity, I almost missed out. $900 went a long way.

More power to you, I couldn’t live with the weird LP signature on the headstock, and rather not have the nuisance of the robot tuners that while cool, are going to fail eventually...

Yeah, but when they fail, you just tune manually. It's actually what I do now most of the time. Overkill for a tuning system when you only use standard like I do, but you can just pretend it doesn't exist.

As far as the logo, "Thank you John Mayer PRS headstock for taking the focus off of the 2015 Gibson headstock signature."

Gibson had their equivalent a long time ago when Ted McCarty's leadership ended and a couple of years later when Norlin bought the company. Like Fender, their "golden era" ended in the mid '60s.

I think they may enter a new era soon, though.

I know. I’m getting tired of this topic too but I wanted to approach it from a pragmatic angle. A changeover will take time and what happens during that time can make or break the Gibson brand. A pause to get things right might be just what they need.

The actual event will be 1000 times less hysterical than the internet reaction to it.

Plenty of 2015s without the specs people hate. Custom Shop, Memphis, even some USAs.

Fair enough, although most of those are probably a bit outside of my budget...

    I’ve got two of them.

    The quality is good!

The features... yeah, some don’t like.

"Just what they need"....is Henry J GONE! That is ....."Just what they need"! And Gibsons creditors may just do exactly that! Until that happens.....nothing will change! Like Forrest Gump's mom used to say..."You can't fix stupid"! LOL!

Wouldn't they all be "pre-bankruptcy Gibson"?

Depends on what the restructuring looks like. Post Norlin, post CBS, post move to Japan Gretsch are all thought of as improvements
