Would you rather go to jail for life or be dead? Let's assume whatever the reason for the life sentence is something that didn't hurt anyone. How about the worst case of tax evasion.

How is tax evasion a crime that doesn't hurt anyone? It's basically theft.

I think he meant physically hurt someone. And by physical I mean murder or crimes against kids etc.

How are we supposed to pay for roads, police, firefighters, the military, etc. etc.?

Obviously, somebody has to. If one person cheats the system by not paying for it, that money has to come out of the pockets of those who do.

I would have thought this is obvious.

If I have no money when i'm older, this is my ticket to retirement.

Most people in prison for life choose not to kill themselves, so I think that's your answer in a nutshell.

So you have no real answer to the question, of course.

Tell me about it. Some (a lot) of people do NOT get it. Everything is just there, and that's the way it should be. :sarcasm

The question was: How are we supposed to pay for roads, police, firefighters, the military, etc. etc.?

Claiming that this is "not a legitimate question" is just your way of ignoring it because you have no answer.

If jail is anything like TV/Movies, then i'd rather be dead than go to jail for even 5 years, much less the rest of my life.

Obviously, I'm just too dim to grasp your sophisticated positions.
